Registration and membership with BASRaT helps us to promote and campaign for Sport Rehabilitation both nationally and globally. We also work to ensure that all Sport Rehabilitators protect the public by practising to the highest professional standards, whilst contributing meaningfully to the public health workforce and providing safe and effective patient care across multiple settings.

Graduate Registered Member
To become a registered member of BASRaT and be authorised to use the title 'BASRaT-reg', applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a BASRaT Accredited degree or equivalent entry via the International Arrangement.
- Obtained a pass in the BASRaT registration exam.
- Trauma Care qualification endorsed by the faculty of pre-hospital care (for initial entry onto the register) or appropriate first aid qualification for re-registrations and renewals.
- Completion and submission of all other documentation in relation to Fitness to Practise.
Your BASRaT membership is invaluable. It gives you:
- The right type of insurance and correct level of cover in your Malpractice and Public Liability Insurance of £5m
- Display the Accredited Register quality mark to show you are on the BASRaT register (which meets the Professional Standards Authority’s robust standards assuring high quality health care)

All graduate registered members are obliged to adhere to the BASRaT Rules of Professional Conduct and are entitled to use BASRaT-reg in their titles.

Graduate Registered Allied Health Professional
This type of membership is for those who have completed a BASRaT-approved undergraduate programme and are qualified and appropriately insured as an allied health professional (e.g. Physiotherapist). A current "appointed persons" first aid qualification including CPR and ongoing BASRaT CPD requirements are also needed.

Allied Health Professionals are additionally regulated by an appropriate body; BASRaT regulates Graduate Registered Members only.
All graduate registered members are obliged to adhere to the BASRaT Rules of Professional Conduct and are entitled to use BASRaT-reg in their titles.

Non-practising Graduate
This membership category covers members who have not retired or completely changed career who need to ensure they have appropriate insurance cover for any claims made after their full GSR membership and insurance has lapsed. This can be part of a new individually sourced policy or the BASRaT run off cover that comes with the NPG membership. BASRaT would recommend run off cover for an absolute minimum of three years, statutes generally limit claims beyond this timeframe, however, under some exceptional circumstances, claims can still be considered thus making six years of run off cover ideal

Associate Member
You can become an Associate member if you have.
- Degree in Allied Health Profession (e.g. Physio, Osteo, Chrio, etc)
- HCPC / GOC / GCC / GMC / or other statutory registration
- Membership to relevant AHP professional body with insurance

- Profile raising. Membership means we can continue to campaign on behalf of Sport Rehabilitators

Associate members are not obliged to adhere to the BASRaT Rules of Professional Conduct but are expected to observe them. This category does not include Malpractice and Public Liability Insurance.

Student Member
Become a student member if you are studying on undergraduate or postgraduate programmes in Sport Rehabilitation that are accredited by BASRaT.
Benefits of Student Membership include:- Option for malpractice insurance for massage (not included in annual fee to BASRaT)

- Reduced entry fee for the Symposium associated with Annual General Meeting

Student members can opt for Malpractice and Public Liability Insurance for massage only - students can contact BASRaT directly for this additional fee.

Application Form and Payment
Membership can be obtained by filling out the application form and sending it to the BASRaT office with correct payment (cheques made payable to 'BASRaT') and all relevant documentation.
There are two joining windows in which membership can be gained and renewed. These dates are from January 1st - January 31st and from June 16th to August 31st (for 6 month membership). Any application outside of these dates will not be accepted.
Payment for membership renewals can either be done via:- Post: by sending a cheque (made payable to ‘British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers’) along with a completed application form; or
- Email: by submitting a scanned copy of the application form on the website at www.basrat.org/eligibility.asp with debit/credit card details provided on the form.
Please note - once payment has been processed we are unable to refund monies due to the fact that insurance and journal costs are non refundable annual contracts. If membership has lapsed then a small fee may be applicable to cover administration costs.
Documentation for Graduate Members and Graduate Allied Health Professional Members
Graduate Members and Graduate Allied Health Professional Members need to ensure that up to date first aid certificates and Declaration of Health and Good Character forms are submitted with your completed application form. Proof of ongoing CPD will also be required.
